Welcome to METHOD & MEANING
What I hope to inspire with this substack
Hi, I’m Huei Suen, and many of you probably know me as @yourdesignbestie from Tiktok after going viral for my FREE UI/UX Self-learn kit.
I am a Service/UX designer from Singapore who has journeyed from self-taught beginnings with a background in Information Systems, to designing for startups with global presence in the last 4 years. In 2024, I made the big decision to move to London earn my Master’s in Service Design from the #1 Art & Design school, Royal College of Art.
My journey with design has been anything but ordinary—spanning STEM to the Arts, self-taught beginnings to structured learning. This is why I am starting METHOD & MEANING, a collective space to bring attention to design that is unconventional, interdisciplinary, and impactful.
Introducing METHOD & MEANING
METHOD & MEANING is a home for anyone who designs, and whose paths are anything but linear. Whether you’ve come to design through unconventional routes or find inspiration in the intersections of disciplines, cultures, and systems, this is your space.
Our mission is simple: to spotlight the rich stories, diverse practices, and pragmatic approaches that harmonises different disciplines. Through essays, case studies, and conversations with designers, design engineers, founders, creative leaders and more, we’ll explore the evolving nature of design in response to our complex world.
Expect insights that reflect the multifaceted nature of design today—practical, thoughtful, and deeply human. Engage with a curious mind, and embrace possibilities for how design could evolve. If you’re looking to be inspired, subscribe to our Substack and join the conversation.
If you’re already subscribed, share it with a friend who might be interested!
